The starting point of this analysis is that the rise and the decline of Matteo Renzi occurred in the media and TV spotlight. It is the first time that something similar occurs for left political leaning parties. Although the wide use of the net, Renzi leadership has been played foremost by the use of TV. His tele-populism echoes Berlusconi's one. Nevertheless, his uses of the TV intertwines a disruption of both media and political credibility. It has been precisely his pervasive attempt of going public to provoke an opposite effect.
