The aim of this paper is to outline a philosophical method based on fiction. Or, more precisely, to build a framework which would enable one to use extra-ordinary fictions in philosophy and in continental philosophy in particular. I start with the case of the invisible man and argue that it should be considered as legitimate example in philosophy, even though the character described by H.G. Wells may impossible in real life, and an aberration according to science. From this case study, I then distinguish different senses of the possible and argue that philosophy is related to the widest domain of the possible. The second half of the paper is devoted to responding to the objection that philosophy is only concerned with real life situations.
