Historically a catholic stronghold between the protestant United States in the North and the increasingly evangelical Guatemala (actually the least catholic country in the Latin American area) in the South, Mexico experiences today a shaking of his religious soul. Especially in the rural southern States of the Mexican Republic, evangelical groups are finding suitable territory for strengthening their presence. This article explores the rising of religious pluralism in the Chiapas State, which involves competition and sometimes even open conflicts.
