The Foundations of banking origin, private and non-profit entities, in the twenty-five years since their institution, have strengthened their role, contributing to the social and economic development of the country and supporting the stability of the financial system. The regulatory framework has evolved according to the changed historical, economic and financial context. After having outlined the supervision model of the Foundations, this work analyzes the self-regulatory process, that the Foundations themselves started with the adoption of the "Charter of Foundations" in 2012 and completed with the signing in 2015 of the Protocol of understanding between Acri and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
