This article explores the effect of certain pricing policies for irrigation of a Reclamation and Irrigation Board (RIB) in Northern Italy on producers’ behavior under no metering conditions. This study is motivated in light of the current European guidelines on water regulation requiring greater accountability of local authorities in the management of water resources. The paper check whether and in what terms price strategies allow to discriminate water users as efficient economic tools of water policies. The study end pointing out how the recent variation of the regulator goals clears the way for new tax scenarios tracking future studies.
