The memoirs of six magistrates who performed functions of judge and public prosecutor in the Fascist regime and the democratic Republic are examined, with specific regard to their position on the 1938 Italian racial laws. Two of them were antifascist, two nostalgic about the fascist period, and two politically indifferent. When dealing with the 1938 events, and also afterward, none of them mentioned the Italian racial laws; one wrote he had knowledge of the Italian racism against Jews only in the Seventies, talking by chance with a defending lawyer.
