The article reconstructs and examines Ferrajoli's philosophical thought upon liberty and property, from "Teoria assiomatizzata del diritto" (1970) to "Principia iuris" (2007). From this diachronic perspective arise the most important conceptual and lexical changes of his theory of subjective rights, which current framework shows very few common elements with the original paradigm. Moreover, the subject and the approach of this study allow us to closely appreciate the ethical-political stance of Ferrajoli's philosophy and to point out a decisive modification of his vision of social order: the transition from the objection to the acceptance of the legal pillars of the market economy.
