The article deals with questions arising from the use of force by Russia in Crimea in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian political crisis. In particular it considers the issue of the exact legal qualification of the Russian armed intervention as an act of aggression or as an armed attack. The article suggests that the two figures of aggression and armed attack are closely entangled from both a conceptual and material point of view, while the main differences between the two lie in their legal consequences.
