Housing satisfaction is seen as a crucial component of subjective life satisfaction and well-being. Research highlights several factors about different dimensions that influence the level of housing satisfaction, e.g. neighborhood characteristics and available facilities, dwellings’ attributes, tenure status, and households’ socioeconomic condition. The extent to which these factors are likely to influence residential satisfaction is strictly context-dependent. In this paper, we propose a multivariate approach that combines three variables: satisfaction for the house and the living place, households sociodemographic and socioeconomic variables, and the region of residence. The IT-SILC (2013) dataset has been used to explore the impact of the most important predictors on the overall housing satisfaction, controlling this effect according to the regions of the respondent. Results highlight a stronger effect played by satisfaction-related variables instead of both sociodemographic variables and region of residence
