If we do not base the validity of law only on the recognition of the mere cogency of norms by those who apply them, but on life bonds they establish, we complete the transition from a historical-sociological doctrine of law to a philosophical one. By the reference to the divine law and transcendence, D’Agostino has the merit of having elaborated a philosophy from law: a philosophy that starts from specific articulation of norms, historical conditions and social developments to reflect on the meaning of human nature and the anthropological constants present in the various dimensions of co-existence. Dependence, relationality, parenting, responsibility, fraternity, solidarity and justice are constitutive elements of our existence that condition the structure of law and guide its principles.
