As early as 2030, half of the electricity consumption will have to come from renewable sources. This is part of the long-term strategy outlined by the European Union, and it is only the first step towards a zero-carbon economy, Horizon 2050. The power sector is crucial to achieve carbon neutrality, but many challenges need to be faced given the different levels of criticality.
