This article aims to outline how the misalignment of migration management measures, and the contradicting laws on the right to move and work within Europe protract the humanitarian status condition over time, producing (im)mobile subjects. In order to do so, the article focuses on the production of (im)mobility through the experience of a group of migrants holding humanitarian protection status who move across Europe and whose experiences and narrations intersect in a city, Turin, and more precisely in the squat called «Lingotto». The latter is here conceived as a complex place that is produced by the intersection between short-sighted reception measures and the lack of a structured and effective accommodation system.
