The work focuses on the analysis of the Income Stabilization Tool introduced by the European commission in the draft Regulation for rural development 2014-2020. In particular, the work illustrates the characteristics and potentiality of the IST, underling the possible weaknesses. In addition, after a brief discussion of international positions on the introduction of the Income stabilization tool, a preliminary analysis was carried out for the implementation of this instrument in Italy. A simulation was conducted for a first economic evaluation on the use of financial resources, including relation to the other subsidized instruments of risk-management.
