97The use of fireworks in the religious and profane celebrationsheld in Seville in the 17th centuryis still a matter little discussed bythe historians of Art, surely because of the ephemeral characterof this artistic manifestation. Thearticle provides abundant noveldocumentation from the archiveof the Cathedral of Seville. Thetwo authors analyse the differenttypologies of these jewels roaring, which are distinguished bythe «castles of #res» and «machines». Along with these typeswe can note the masters who concocted them and the celebrationswhich occurred. Among themhighlighting the feast celebrated,in 1671, for the canonization ofthe patron of the city, the kingSaint Ferdinand and also we candemonstrated the importance ofthe Seville Cathedral as a theater chosen for firework shows, which, once again, in the periodexamined, emerged as a symbolof the cultural identity of the capital of Andalucia.
