Established in 1869, the Consiglio dell’industria e del commercio (Council of Industry andCommerce) was an advisory body of the Ministry of agriculture, destined to become a vehicle ofmediation and representation of economic interests through the State administration itself. Thisrole was actually played, as proved by documents at the Archivio centrale dello Stato in Rome testifyingto its tireless activity of trait d’union between politics and productive activities. Unable tofind its place in a public administration deeply modified after the First World War, the Council wasdefinitely abolished in 1913.
