In this paper, some specific topics concerning the World Trade Organization will be examined. First of all, an introductory paragraph will be devoted to the current situation of this international organization, which appears difficult because of the Doha Round negotiating cycle stalling and the harsh criticism moved by the United States. Arguments will be made concerning United States claims, in order to understand this criticism, probably the most dangerous threat to WTO’s life from its inception. Attention will then be focused on the WTO’s agricultural discipline, one of the main subject of the WTO legal order and one of most controversial as well. This section will describe existing rules and rules that have been proposed to accomodate agricultural issues in a way Developing Countries may find acceptable to protect their interests and needs. This will bring to the conclusive section, which discusses the troublesome ‘food security’ issues.
