In the first part of the essay, the Author proposes a comparison betweenthe reforms of labour market recently enacted in Italy as well as inSpain. In both countries, the new measures have been taken under thepressure of Ue institutions and facing a serious occupational crisis, butthe results, in terms of flexicurity, are different. Whereas Spanish Act3/2012 stresses on internal flexibility by enlarging employers' unilateralpowers, including the power to dismiss at considerably reduced costs,Italian Act 92/2012 balances incoming and outgoing flexibility, partiallyrestricting the first and generously enlarging the second. In the final partof the essay, the Author focuses on Italian new regulations of dismissals;a critical analysis is dedicated to the reduction of employees' protectionagainst unfair dismissals and the unequal treatments stemming from theprotection fragmentation related to the fragmentation of dismissal justification.
