The author takes into analysis the concept of women's work adopted by Ludovico Barassi. The first quick apparition of this concept can be traced in the first edition of the Barassi's "The labour contract in positive legislation". In the second edition of this manual Barassi takes up the arguments of women's capacity, social legislation and equality. During the Fascist age, the edition of 1935 takes into consideration the subject of women at work. Finally, the author analyses the value recognised to women work by the Italian Constitution.
