Organizational competitiveness, market globalization and sustainability have brought firms to invest in resources for the improvement of their management practices. Lean Management (LM) and Management System Standards (MSSs) are clear such initiatives with an objective of enhancing effectiveness and efficiency of organizations (Wirkus and Chmielarz, 2018). Greiner Extrusion Group (GEG) is one of the worldwide manufacturers of extrusion lines, tools and complete systems for profile extrusion, with diverse production and service locations in Europe, the United States and Asia. The GEG should individually or mutually adopt, in whole or in part the following standards: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System - QMS), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System - EMS), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System - OH&S MS) and ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management System - EnMS). Thus, the scope of the study was to investigate how and why LM may affect the accomplishment of ISO 9001:2015 and draft the implementation process of an integrated Lean Quality Management System (LQMS) approach. In order to plan the optimal Integrated Management System (IMS) model, the thesis defined the as-is situation of the company identifying core products and services and their related processes together with the quality and lean tools used at the company. Since the quality documentation was written in German and not completely developed at the company, the majority of the data for the study was gathered during weekly meetings with the Lean Manager and Chief of Production (CPO) as well as through observation and practical participation. Moreover, the findings showed that it is widely accepted that lean methods and techniques may be used to facilitate the implementation of the ISO standards. As result, it is developed the LQMS concept and the preliminary draft of the LQMS process to be presented at the Top Management in order to obtain its consensus and fully involvement. Competitività aziendale, globalizzazione del mercato e sostenibilità hanno condotto le organizzazioni ad investire risorse per il miglioramento delle pratiche di gestione. Lean Management (LM) e Management System Standards (MSSs) sono chiare iniziative atte a migliorare l’efficacia e l’efficienza delle organizzazioni (Wirkus and Chmielarz, 2018). Greiner Extrusion Group è uno dei produttori a livello mondiale di linee, strumenti e sistemi per l’estrusione di profili con diversi siti di produzione e servizi situati in Europa, Stati Uniti e Asia. Le aziende del gruppo dovranno adottare, individualmente o mutualmente, per intero o in parte i seguenti standard: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System – QMS), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System – EMS), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System - OH&S MS) and ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management System - EnMS). Per questo motivo, lo studio ha l’obiettivo di investigare “come” e “perché” il LM interessa il raggiungimento della ISO 9001:2015 e progettare un Lean Quality Management System (LQMS) integrato con le altre ISO certificationi. In modo da pianificare l’ottimale processo di un Integrato Sistema di Gestione (IMS), la tesi definisce la situazione as-is dell’azienda identificando prodotti, servizi e relativi processi chiave insieme agli strumenti lean e di qualità usati dall’organizzazione. La documentazione relativa alla qualità era definita solo in parte e scritta in lingua tedesca, così la maggior parte dei dati furono raccolti durante meeting settimanali con il Lean Manager e il Responsabile della Produzione (CPO) insieme ad osservazione e partecipazione sul campo. Dopo un accurato studio della letteratura è emerso che la maggior parte degli accademici, consulenti ed esperti ritengono positivo l’utilizzo di tecniche e metodi lean a supporto dell’implementazione degli ISO standards. Di conseguenza, è stato sviluppato il concetto di LQMS e il suo processo preliminare da presentare alla direzione per ottenere il suo consenso ed impegno allo svolgimento dello stesso.
