The author takes a closer look at Ko³akowski’s conception of Revisionism between 1956 and 1966. In the period under consideration polish philosopher aims to offer some solutions to the stagnation of real socialism and the demise of the communist regime due to demands of democracy by the common people and the intellectual class. Two distinct lines of thought could stem from Marxism namely, the dogmatic and the heretical. The former constitutes the negation of the ideal of intellectual emancipation of every subject. The latter illustrates an apparent inconsistency that represents the only way out of the regime’s policy that betrayed the historic mission of human liberation and the solution of the problems of the Polish nation.
