This contribution addresses the inherent and growing tensions between rights of man and rights of God. The fact that these tensions are unavoidable does not mean that they are insurmountable and cannot be controlled, managed and even put to good use to build a society that is able to respect and promote cohesion and diversity at the same time. The article explores the strategies and legal tools to govern these tensions both from the angle of the pragmatic management of conflicts between rights of man and rights of God and from the more complex perspective of the conceptual systematization of their relations. It concludes that avoiding the absolutization not of human rights but of their legal formulation seems a promising way to address this issue.
