Hegel's political conception is not a doctrine next to or against the others, but is rather determined by the critique ["Aufhebung"] of those concepts forged by the theories of natural law, which characterize the modern way of thinking politics. Politics should therefore be approached and measured according to this critical overcoming. The concepts of sovereignty (of the people) and political representation and their indissoluble bond, the concepts of civil society and the State and their separation, the fundamental concepts of democratic and representative constitutions are therefore questioned. Hence it derives a lesson which is still useful in order to think differently both society and politics in our present time.
