The notion of humandignity plays a central role in contemporary legal experience, according to the historicalinspirations of post-war Constitutionalism. In consideration of the difficult determination ofits legal concept, it is necessary to have a look back to that period, in order to understandboth the legacy and promises involved in the protection of human dignity. This means thathuman dignity allows to investigate the philosophical foundations of contemporary constitutionalism,in relation to the person and his claim to be the source of production and publicrepresentation of meanings attributable to the "Self".
