The essay discusses the political purposes of the late reception of Carl Schmitt's thought in the English speaking world. Since the second half of the 80s, Schmitt has been widely analyzed in the Anglo-American political culture, where he has captured the attention of the liberal left. Through the reading of some recent books concerning the German philosopher's legal and international thought, it is argued that the Anglophone reception did not reach a deep understanding of Schmitt's works.
