The author offers a new interpretation of Plato's "Statesman". In this dialogue Plato widely applies the "techne"-analogy to politics and, in doing so, he reaches paradoxical conclusions: the statesman should scientifically know what to do at any time. But, since this is not possible, the statesman who possesses the political "techne" does not exist, and the practical solution that Plato gives is to respect city's laws as they are. Finally, there is no compromise between the theory's point of view (the possibility of a political science) and the practical solution.
