The literature concerning the process from discrimination to social inclusion of the persons with disabilities is vast, rich and complex, gaining from different perspectives and approaches. The article suggests that a further and useful contribution to the debate can be represented by the historical-institutional view explored in "I ciechi dai ghetti ai diritti. L’Istituto David Chiossone dal 1868 al 2018" (Il Mulino, 2018), by A. Giordano and M. Pasini, a book in which, concentrating on a specific institution, the (often bumpy) route “from charity to parityµ is finely reconstructed and deeply analyzed.
