The essay is dedicated to Cesare Marini and to his contribution within the Southern culture of the liberal age. Marini, a liberal jurist influenced by Vico's thought, has to be fully recognized as one of the supporters of the new «historical-philosophical-dogmatic» method. This approach represented a fundamental aspect of the Neapolitan post Restoration legal culture which conciliated the legal tradition with the new normative system of the Codice per lo Regno delle due Sicilie. The essay also focuses on Marini's contribution on the issue of contracts through Lezioni di diritto civile novissimo, his main study published in Naples in 1830.
