The article describes how the transfer of judges in Italy has evolved up to the latest reform. This is done by examining the relevant statute laws and its implementation by the Superior Council of the Judiciary (C.S.M.) and by administrative courts. Indeed, these rules are very controversial in the context of the Italian judiciary system because they derogate security of office and have been widely applied by the C.S.M. The 2005/2006 reform of the judiciary has made the discipline more restrictive by limiting the administrative powers of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (C.S.M.). However, as can be seen in recent cases highlighted by the media, the C.S.M. has interpreted this reform in a similar way to previous interpretations.
