Globalization is a new and more radical challenge for industrial relations in comparison with problems originated by national markets. Enlargement of industrial relations field of action has put under discussion the capacity of traditional systems to provide suitable rules for the new dimensions of international markets. After this general premise, the Author takes into consideration the evolution of Eu social policies and the intensification of political and legal convergence of Members States after the Amsterdam Treaty. In particular he stresses 19 guidelines outlining a European public policy pattern about employment. In the last part of the essay the Author argues that is very important to find new industrial relations in order to face problems concerning globalization and points out the regional level as an area favourable to define regulative techniques fitting the future industrial relation.
