The article is the introductory keyword to the monographic "technoscience" number of "parolechiave". The author delineates the chief controversies concerning the relationship between technology and modern and hypermodern societies. The limits of the traditional humanistic approach to the problem of the two cultures are emphasized, new and alternative frames for the analysis of the relationship between technoscience, incertitude, and advanced society are offered. The main hypothesis exposed in this paper is the idea of the possible democratic regulation and governance of technology. The conditions necessary to a correct relationship by social actors with socio-technical complexities are also explored.
