What is a limit? Limits can represent a no man’s land, but they can also open up new perspectives. While with this term we generally refer to an idea of fixity, limits allow us to experience the fluidity and uncontrollability of existence. Science advances along a limit, in that it is not a faith, and so does art. The awkwardness of limits can be overcome only by religions, but modern rationalism both denies and seeks the absolute by acknowledging and gradually overcoming all limits, in the illusion of an endless progress and of a messianic domination of the forces of nature
