Titolo La 'politeia' come 'mixis' in Aristotele Periodico Filosofia politica Anno: 2005 - Volume: 19 - Fascicolo: 1 - Pagina iniziale: 25 - Pagina finale: 32
Aristotle gives two different meanings to the word 'politeia' usually translated as 'constitution'. On the one hand it means every governing society; on the other hand it indicates the right constitution to which democracy corresponds as its deviated form. In this second meaning, 'politeia' is understood as 'mixis', namely a democracy where the power of the 'demos' is counterbalanced and limited by the presence of oligarchic institutions.
