Starting from the theories elaborated by Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams on Wikinomics - the new economic mass collaboration made possible by the web - the article develops the main principle of the new economics based on "peering", i.e. creative collaboration. Opening, sharing, global action and peering have defeated the old institutions (private and public) that have to face the convergence of different technologies (among which Web 2.0) and demographic development. The author skilfully presents the benefits of disintermediation and the value of mediation. He concludes underlining how our society is both increasingly disintermediated and mediated.
