Abstract

In an increasing competitive domestic and external market, Castro's management understands that it must concentrate on innovation, flexibility, and responsiveness in order to 'remain in the game'. Castro's management sees that it must focus its efforts to shift itself from the more efficient management of tangible resources to the more effective utilization of the company intellectual capital and human resources. Castro sees that it must increasingly relay on knowledge skills, 'freshness' and judgment of all its people and not only relay on its own, encouraging innovation and learning to compete in new ways with competitive challenges imposed in its operating market. This paper focuses on the changing role of Castro's management and changing company strategies as it seeks to 'loosen up' the structure of the company in order to expand its market – stimulating innovation, creativity and responsiveness, and learning to manage continuous change without losing its strategic goals.
