This thesis deals with the problem of the long set-up times of the molding machines of Crealis, a leading company in the closure solutions sector, which will be discussed in the following chapters: this problem has gained importance in the last period since, going to analyze the data, on average a set-up time lasts 130 minutes with maximum peaks of 705 minutes, there are also production stoppages for toolmaker's waiting of 71 minutes. The action taken by the company is to advance projects for continuous improvement in all production departments, especially through the application of SMED. The project aims to halve setup times and reduce toolmaker waits to zero by making both organizational and technical changes, as well as separating external and internal setups. To aid the application of the SMED there is an integration with the D.M.A.I.C., a step-by-step process that provides a structure to the different steps of the project, defining each of its phases. In the following chapters, the entire process from start to finish of SMED applied to the production department will be shown, going through all the stages of: 1. Problem definition and consolidation of project members and objectives. 2. Measurement of data to take a snapshot of the present situation. 3. Data analysis and identification of root causes. 4. Implementation of organizational and technical ideas. 5. Monitoring and consolidation of results.
