Abstract

The aim of this script is to explain step by step the development of an e-business for The Sweet Shop, a family owned bakery shop located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Nowadays, it is very important for any US company to have a well-organized e-business, in order to adapt to the market environment. Basically the e-business for The Sweet Shop is composed by a proper website for the company where customers can gather information about the company and the product and an e-commerce system applied in the website. So the first step is to gather information about the company and get an idea about how the e-business should be once developed and which main functions should have. Subsequently, it is possible to start to plan it in more detail, thinking about the type of customers will use it. So the physical implementation of the website starts: the site is physically built, the shopping cart is installed and the code is written. In detail, pages are projected with proper imagines and text. During the implementation of the e-business model, it is necessary to make sure that goals are achieved and requirements are met. In this case the aim of having a well- developed e-business is to increase the brand recognition providing specific information about the product in order to acquire new customers and customers’ loyalty. Once the e- business is implemented, a usability test is made in order to make sure that everything is working well and customers can use the website and the shopping cart easily. The last chapter lists additional main tasks I completed. I mainly cared about the supplies, ordering them online instead of going physically at the store, and about customer services. I used to provide at the shop information about the company and its business core and to answer at the phone giving customers information as necessary. Furthermore I did teamwork with other interns creating online marketing activities, mainly related with organizing events at the shop during weekends. Furthermore I cared about the Facebook page updating it with the list of flavors available and good pictures of the product in order to gain customers’ attention.
